*warning: incoherent mature content rant ahead*
It's unbelievable what some people want... They complain about "porn" on dA while dA has been very strict concerning their policies on nudity: one bare breast and you have to put a mature content filter on your deviation - shots of penises are tolerated with the same mature tag on as long as they are not porn. Now the definition of porn is roughly that the penis can't be stiff and no hands (neither their own nor others') are going to be near it. Same goes for vaginas - safe for the stiff part *giggles*
Then I tell them to put the filter on if they don't want to see images of genitals and they say that the mature tag filters TOO MUCH while getting squeemish about stuff you see on tv here. But not in America mind you. They don't even show bare breasts in shower gel commercials *rollseyes*
So to me it seemed natural that if they get squeemish that easily, you put the MC tag on and be done. But they want "degrees" of maturity... And the best thing about it is, dA is working on it, but those people don't read staff journals or news posts or anything so they wouldn't know (I did tell them though).
They come to me to complain about porn in manips and that they reported stuff that after two days still hasn't been removed... Anyone ever hear the term WEEKEND?! *shakeshead* Plus am I CEA?! nope, I am a volunteer and I don't deal with policy violations.
Point is, their request for levels of MC is a cool one, but the way it is brought up is unbelievably squeemish/prude/American/whateveryouwannacallit. I mean the complaint was they don't want their children to see such things like penises hanging loose - but why did they click on the thumb while their children were around in the first place? It's not like you can't guess what's waiting for you.
And on a side note, they won't die of shock if they accidentally do see a penis. On the other hand, America is the land of possibilities, so maybe they will...
